This piece is called “And Still, They Bloom.” I’ve been thinking about how to share my ongoing cancer story through my visual language (which is centered on color and joy), and I’m at a place where I’m ready to start exploring.
This first painting is is a self-portrait (rare for me!). I felt this one, it felt like I absolutely had to make this painting. It was cathartic and healing and raw and playful and fun to make.
Part of show ‘The Earth Laughs in Flowers,’ presented by Thinkspace Projects and a part of Worldwide Walls. On view September 17–24, 2025 at Capitol Modern in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
